Thank you Stampin’ Up! for providing this Hello December Project Life Collection! Because of it I was inspired to create the cutest- easiest Advent calendar ever!
I know I’m a little late to start an Advent calendar. Honestly, I use that as an excuse a lot and then it never happens. The way I figure it is I still have 20 days left to enjoy this holiday tradition with my son, and next year I will be ready to go on day ONE!
I had gotten this Project Life kit so I could get a jump start on my holiday scrapbooking (and catch up on some past years) The holiday sets are only out for a limited time, so I needed to get it while I could. When I opened up the kit I was flooded with ideas and inspiration for other projects, at this point I can only hope there are enough supplies left over for a scrapbook. I might be getting another set really soon!
The Advent calendar was one of the first projects that came to mind. They had to have had that in mind when they created this kit, because look at it! How perfect is that and I had just the right amount of supplies.
In just a matter of minutes I was numbering away at my cards. I was so wrapped up in creating my calendar that I almost forget to stop and take a pictures. I’m sure writers often feel this way, but I was so inspired I couldn’t wait to get it out.
I put my cards together and went looking for ideas to put on the back of each card. I decided to do activities on the back some days and Bible verses on the others. That way we are remembering what Christmas is really about, and lets face it, there is no way we can possible get an activity done every day. Life is to busy for that, and I’m not setting myself up to fail.
To hang my cards I used twine and some tinsy winsy clothes pins, which until this day that I would never come up with a way to use them.
Since I was running behind on time, I was really trying to make this project as simple as possible. Of course, there are plenty of ways to do more with this Advent calendar, like round the corners of the cards or add additional trim.
Supplies used: Hello December Project Life Card Collection, Hello December Project Life Accessory Pack, twine and clothespins which can also be found on Stampin’ Up!
The hardest thing about this project was waiting 7 hours for my husband and soon to get home! I can’t wait to start this new tradition with my family and look forward to all the memories made. Please don’t let the fact that we have missed a few days stop you from starting this new family tradition.
