I am always on a mission to make more of the things we use around our house, with the goal of saving us money and making things that are better for us. One way that I have been accomplishing that is by incorporating essential oils into daily life with Simpy Earth’s Essential Oil Recipe Box.
I’m not telling you anything new when I say essential oils have been a big deal for quite some time. As time goes on we hear more and more about their benefits. Knowing this, I have been trying to figure out the best way to use them in our home for years, but I kept running into two problems.
First, the cost… I have looked at several different companies and a few times I almost took the leap. The thing is I knew I would have to sell them to be able to afford them and my heart just wasn’t into starting another business. Then, there were the ones at Walmart that just plain scared me they were so cheap.
Secondly… I’m not an aromatherapist. I know the power of essential oils, I just don’t know the most effective and beneficial way to use them. I can add them to a diffuser and make something that smells nice, but I sure don’t know how to make a surface cleaner or make a boo-boo better with them.
With those things in mind, incorporating essential oils into our daily life just didn’t seem possible. Thankfully, That changed a few weeks ago when I came across Simply Earth in my Instagram feed. They are an essential oil company that sells oils at a price I can afford (they are not a MLM). Their oils are 100% pure, ethically sourced and tested. Ok, so that took care of the first problem I had with using oils in our home.
But wait for it… Here is where it gets really exciting, especially if you are DIY kind of person. They have a monthly recipe box, recipes that are developed by aromatherapist, for things you use for yourself and around the home. Not only do you get the recipes, but you get the exact products and oils you need to make those recipes.
To say I was eager to get to know more about this company was an understatement. Then while cleaning out my inbox (something that was neglected during my long blogging break) I came across an email from Simply Earth! Thankfully they responded back to my embarrassingly late response, and kindly agreed to send me the upcoming box to try it out and share it with you.
Now you can already tell I was pretty sure I was going to like their product before it even came, but when it came it far exceeded my expectations. So much so that it caused me to finally get up the nerve to do my first YouTube video. I wanted you to see exactly what I saw when I opened the box.
I was definitely impressed, but how well would everything come together when I tried to make these recipes and how would the quality of the ingredients be? I decided the best thing to do would be to make the products, use the oils and then do a review video with the results.
To get my face on a video not once, but twice, you know it had to be good. I hope you will check out my videos, but in case you would rather read a summary of my review here it is…
The box I received was the May 2020 “Woman Up” Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box. When you get your first months subscription box you also get the Big Bonus Box. This includes your core items for making the recipes every month. It included Two different types of coconut oil, almond oil, beeswax, 6 roll on bottles and 6 smaller 1 oz bottles.
The monthly box contained the ingredients you would need specific to that month’s theme which was “Woman Up.” This box was designed with a woman’s needs in mind and a few pampering things as well. It included four different essential oils which were, Ladies Choice, Good Vibes, Tangerine and Marjoram, as well as dried lavender flowers, two different containers needed to store the completed recipe and labels for everything.
The Recipe cards came with instruction on how to make the product, estimated time it would take to make, self life, as well as how to use it and how it was beneficial. The recipes in this months box were…
- Balanced Bath Soak
- Cramp Care Compress
- Positivity Solid Perfume
- Spring Day Diffuser Blend
- Complexion Face Serum
- Good Vibes Roll On
I loved that some of the products like, the Good Vibes Roll On and Cramp Care Compress were for hormonal health and comfort, while the Balance Bath Soak was a nice relaxing treat for me (while also having health benefits) and the Complexion Face Serum is something that I have wanted to add to my nightly routine for a long time.
I’m also excited to use the Spring Day Diffuser Blend around the house and to use the Positivity Solid Perfume for myself. Perfume has been something I have wanted to start wearing for a long time. For some reason in my mind perfume and lipstick are something that classy women wear, and although I’m usually in jeans doing “homestead” chores these days I still want to add a touch of class when I can. I digressed a little there. The thing is I haven’t added a perfume because the fragrances are usually way too strong for me. That was not the case with this solid perfume. This on the other hand was perfect, a wonderful smell, while not being overpowering.
I really enjoyed making these recipes as almost a kind of craft/ DIY time for myself. I was glad that the recipes weren’t complicated, but I didn’t want to just fly through making them, because after all this was the closest thing to me time I have gotten in a while. I’m happy to say I think the recipes in the box accomplished this very nicely. It was definitely a nice nap time project, and I felt so accomplished that I had all these products made by the time my daughter woke up.
She actually got up just in time to help me match up the labels to my new creations. Which I have to say I love, love, love the labels that came with the box. It’s not even about how cute and organized I appear by using them, they have great information on them for that specific products. Information that I might know when I make it, but chances are I wont remember a few months from now.
While my little girl was helping me, I enjoyed thinking about how safe these products were for her. Not only are they safe for her to be around, but I so look forward to showing her how to incorporate these essential oils products into her life.
I was very impressed with the quality of what was included in the box, the essential oils and the products the recipes made. I have so much of my supplies left after making the recipes. I think at most I used 6- 8 drops of an oil, so these will last me a very long time. The recipes will also be very easy to re-create, so this wont be just a one time things. Then something like the perfume, now that I know the correct base for I can easily customize the scent to make it unique for me. I think using one of their floral oils or even lavender would be awesome for this.
I look at it this way, for the last few years I have been buying products that contained essential oils, in hopes that it was better for us. Which is really expensive and not always as natural as they seem. With this box, which is $39.00, not only am I adding to my essential oil collection, but I’m replacing expensive products that I used to buy (and I know what is in them.) The value of this box goes so far. After this amazing experience with their recipe box, I know I will be incorporating essential oils into daily life with Simply Earth.
Simply Earth has been so gracious to provide me with a code for my followers that will get you a $40 gift card when you start a monthly subscription to their Essential Oil Recipe Box. You will be able to use it on future boxes or other products. All you need to do is use my Simply Earth link and use the code LIFEAFTERLAUNDRYFREE.
If you would like to try out their individual oils, kits, diffuser or other accessories I would love for you to use my Simply Earth link. Using this link gives me a small commission and doesn’t cost you anything more. Links like this help offset the cost of having this blog and allow me to keep doing what I am doing.

Hi Brenna,
What a fun box. I love getting stuff in the mail. I may look into this in the future, I just need to make sure I’m not spending money until after this pandemic. I’m still working for right now, but you just never know.
brenna
I completely understand that Kathleen! It is so hard with all the uncertainty. I am definitely hoping things start getting better soon. This has pretty much stopped my work as a doula. Thankfully, my husband is still working, but we never know if that might slow down.
I wish I had been doing this months ago, then I wouldn’t be so worried about not being able find household products at the store. lol
Michelle

I love my essential oils, I use them everyday, everywhere! My faves are Lavender, Lemon (in my water) and Tea Tree oil!
brenna
Yes! I love lavender and tea tree as well! They are probably the most used in my house. I love the lavender smell, so I add it to everything, then tea tree has so many benefits.

We have some essential oils but only really use them in a diffuser. Would love to try some in a compress!
brenna
That is exactly where I was. I’m excited to try the compress as well and learn all the other ways to use them.

This is such a cool subscription box, I had no idea there was one for essential oils. This is definitely one I might be trying out or even gifting!

I know! I was so glad that I stumbled across Simply Earth. I was needing oils anyway, so this has been a great way to build up my collection and actually find new uses for them. It really has been a game changer for me.
